“To our friends, old and new: we are in the nursery business alone—no outside interests or control. We own the land upon which we grow our stock...We give no guarantee as to growth of stock, however we send stock out only in A no. 1 condition. Your care will determine your success in growing any plant or tree.”—F.C. Hetz and Sons, Proprietors, Fairview Evergreen Nursery catalog, Spring 1930.
Thank you for visiting Fairview Evergreen on the Web. If you’ve browsed our site before, you’ll notice that we’re trying to expand our presence in cyberspace in small steps. Our fundamental goals for this page, however, remain the same: To introduce newcomers to our family-owned business and our top quality line of plant material, and to provide another means of communicating with and providing superior service to our customers.

This year we've added a current availability and price list for our wholesale customers. To access this spreadsheet, you'll need a user name and password, which you can get by calling our Sales Department at 1-800-458-2234.

It is with great sadness that the Fairview Evergreen family must also announce the recent passing of one of our own, Ted Hetz, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ted was a wonderful nurseryman who helped build our company into what it is today, and we will miss him dearly. Please click on the above link to be directed to Ted's memorial page.
The past year brought many challenges to the green industry. Record heat and drought were followed by a brutal hurricane season and skyrocketing fuel prices. Through it all, Fairview Evergreen Nurseries, Inc. held fast to the commitment made in 1911 by founder Frank C. Hetz—to grow and sell only “A#1” nursery stock to our valued customers. Frank’s descendants, including 11 active third and fourth generation shareholder-employees, continue to live by this motto as we begin our 95th year as a family owned and operated business.

Our location in western Erie County Pennsylvania, 3500 acres on the south shore of Lake Erie, provides a zone six microclimate ideal for growing nursery crops. While the majority of our production is dedicated to B&B evergreens, particularly Taxus, we also grow a wide variety of other plants. We offer deciduous shrubs and shade trees, evergreen and deciduous liners, as well as a growing number of plants in containers. We root prune, trim, and fertilize for consistent quality. We have a strong IPM program to ensure, to the best of our ability, that you receive pest-free plants.

Our farming operation remains an integral part of our nursery. Manure from our beef cattle is plowed down before we plant, providing essential organic material and enhanced micronutrients in our soil. Raising corn, oats, and wheat to support the cattle operation also enables us to rest our ground between nursery crops.

Even in these uncertain economic times, we have continued to invest in our company. New land acquisitions and expanded greenhouse space will foster long-term growth that will allow us to better serve you. We’re always looking ahead, and we welcome the chance to show you our commitment to the future—please stop by and visit us if you’re in our area. We look forward to serving you in 2006!
